Global Relocations offers automobile shipping to various countries on a regular service. We offer several options: automobiles can be shipped in their own ‘sole use’ containers or by groupage service within either a 20′ or 40′ steel containers, or by RORO service.
Containers
Your vehicle is driven into the container and blocked and braced by wood to secure no movement during transit. Should you decide to ship personal effects as well, they are loaded first, and then a wooden barrier separates them from your vehicle.
RORO Service
RORO stands for ‘roll on roll off’ in which your car is driven onto a specially equipped car ferry, tied down so there is no movement during transit and covered to protect the automobile from various weather elements. Several countries can be served by this method although the service is not as frequent as the regular container vessel route. Please note that no personal effects may be loaded into your vehicle with this option.
The main differences between these two options are frequency and cost. The container service does offer more choice of destinations and sailings are on a more frequent basis than a RORO service.
Vehicle Export Preparation
A detailed pre-shipment condition report is completed upon receipt of your vehicle. As most vehicles are inspected upon arrival by Quarantine, or other relevant authorities, we strongly suggest a complete valet cleaning service of the inside and outside of the vehicle, including the removal of visible mud and dirt from the wheels and underneath compartments.
If you wish to arrange steam cleaning yourself, make sure you obtain a certificate to verify the cleaning that has been done, together with the outlets stamped signature. Please note that steam cleaning prior to shipment does not preclude the relevant authorities at destination ordering steam cleaning again.
Documentation
Prior to shipping a motor vehicle, the owner may need to obtain a vehicle import permit or license approval from the destination country’s vehicle authorities.
Please bear in mind that it is always the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the vehicle meets the standards and regulations that apply in the respective country and that all applicable documents are presented to the authorities.
We require a copy of the vehicle registration documents and a copy of the purchase invoice prior to shipment. If the vehicle is registered in another person’s name, then a letter from the owner must be written, giving authority to ship the vehicle.
Other documents confirming evidence of use overseas (such as a valid or relevant tax disc or insurance documents), date and value at the time of purchase may be required by foreign customs officials at destination. We can provide information on most country’s customs regulations. Unfortunately, customs regulations can and do change, so it is important to check that you are aware of the most up to date regulations.
