I thought air freight was more expensive that sea freight?
In most cases it is, however if you intend to send either one or two items, air freight may well be the more cost effective option.
How much notice do I need to give?
To avoid disappointment, please give us as much notice as possible. Ideally, we would like between two to four weeks notice. Depending on the time of year however, we may only require one week.
When do I pay?
We require a deposit payment of £500.00 together with your acceptance form, which secures your collection and loading date. The balance of payment is required prior to your shipment departing UK waters.
How can I pay?
We accept most forms of payment – cash, cheque, debit and credit card or online transfer. Please note that there is a 2.5% surcharge with any credit card.
How long will it take for my shipment to reach its destination?
Depending on your destination this can vary between two to 10 weeks, provided that we have received all of your correctly completed forms AND a copy of the picture page of your passport.
What items are prohibited from shipment?
Certain items cannot be accepted under general conditions of carriage and storage, e.g. food, cash, bonds, jewellery, alcohol, explosives, flammable gases/liquids/solids, poisons and toxins, scuba tanks, gas cylinders, aerosol cans, plants, pornography, corrosives. Each destination specifies what not to ship and we would be more than happy to outline this in more detail for you.
Can you store my belongings?
Many countries require your presence to clear your goods through customs. You may therefore wish to store your effects prior to shipment, following which we will arrange delivery to coincide with your arrival at destination. If you require storage before shipment the first month is free of charge, thereafter at £18 per 250 cubic feet per week plus VAT.
As I do not have a destination address, how should I complete this information on the forms?
It is important for us to have some contact details. If you have a family member at destination, then provide their details. Otherwise, it would be useful to provide your employer’s contact details.
Who do I contact at destination to find out about my shipment?
In most circumstances, we will email you a copy of our ‘Certificate of Shipment’ (unless you decide to air freight your effects) that outlines all the relevant information regarding your shipment, as well as the contact details of our appointed agent at destination. In turn, our agent receives a pre-alert regarding your shipment and will make contact prior to the arrival of your shipment.
